Season 2, Episode 290: Terry Dika Volchoff – Interior Freedom Designer

Today’s guest is Terry Dika Volchoff. Terry works with both purpose driven entrepreneurs and healers who realize that there is more that they could be doing and are tired of being defeated by their very own mind. She’s a master at this because she knows first hand how frustrating and defeating it can be. She struggled for years with boom and bust and feelings of inadequacy ruling her life. Her mind would go blank and her body physiology would actually change with fear. She could see that there was something missing so…

She searched on both sides of the pond, creating many adventures, to resolve her inner turmoil and frustration. But no matter how much work she did, what modality she tried, even though she improved with each new effort, she still felt her potential to realize her true destiny and personal freedom she so badly craved still eluded her. She studied meditation, tapping, Conscious Bars and more. Then, she finally cracked the code.

Terry discovered a process that changed her mind chatter from negative to positive – and that’s what she now shares with the world.

You can find out more about her at www.InteriorFreedomDesigner.com.

The Challenges of Letting Go

I love the fall season. It is nature’s way of letting go of that which no longer serves. The trees shed their leaves. The grass gives up its color. And nature itself seems to look inward to its roots. There is no struggle. It is full of ease.

We can learn a great deal from nature at this time of year. To trust that it is okay to let go. To know that what we need will come to us in time. To breathe deeply and slowly and look inward.

Yet sadly, we often end up like a dog with a bone, fighting tooth and nail to hang onto something. It might be your relationship or it might be your job. It could be your money or it could be your fame. These are the things that are usually very apparent. Everybody can see what you’re up to. Sometimes, you can even see it yourself.

However, we frequently (and often subconsciously) cling to something that can harm us much worse than the obvious. We just won’t let go of our notions, our beliefs, or our habits.

I’m not talking about ideals or faith, but about the stories that we make up and tell ourselves. Stories about ourselves, about our world, about the people in it. And much like a child that believes in both Santa Claus and the Boogie-Man, we take these made-up stories for cold hard fact.

The Root of All Your Problems

Had you met me a few years ago, you probably would have looked at me and thought “Yeah, Michael’s got it all together. He seems to be doing very well for himself”.

You would have been wrong. What I let the outside world see was a very different picture than what was going on behind the curtain.

I was the CEO of my own startup company, but I was bankrupt. I was barely able to pay myself anything and even had to go on unemployment when I couldn’t pay myself at all. My relationships, if you could call them that, were a shamble.  I was dating around and trying to find my perfect match, but was ultimately and repetitively wandering into dead-end alleys.

My passion for my company had waned, and it was difficult to get motivated enough to even leave my home. I seriously believe that were I not responsible for getting my son to school in the mornings, I would have become a total recluse. Online grocery shopping was even beginning to look like a solid option.

In a nutshell, I was floundering. I’d lost my purpose.

And the really sad part of this, at least to me, was that I had all of the tools at my disposal to turn my life around. I’d studied with some of the top people in the self-improvement industry. Tony Robbins – I’d read his books, devoured his tapes (do they even make those anymore?), and even attended a live event. David Deida – same thing. Gay and Katie Hendricks – been there, done that. And the list goes on.

So, what was happening here?!? I had the information at my fingertips. I knew everything that I needed to do. I knew WHAT to do. I knew HOW to do it. I certainly knew WHY I should do it.

But… I did nothing.

Until, I started to examine just that.  WHY was I doing nothing? WHAT was stopping me? WHERE did all of that training and knowledge go?
